1. Tonal Hearing
Back in Week 19 of my weekly letters, I shared what I learnt about hearing loss through an encounter with one of my cousin’s university friends, Jonathan.
Jonathan has ambitious plans to transform the hearing care industry with his company Tonal Hearing. His mission is to significantly reduce the time it takes for people to address their hearing loss (which averages ten years in the UK) and to make hearing aids as accessible, effortless, and appealing as your favourite pair of spectacles.
Excited by Tonal’s mission and the scale of the problem, I’ve continued my conversations with Jonathan and have agreed to write a monthly series of letters sharing my experiences as someone with bilateral, moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss. I’ve oh so creatively named the series: Moderately Deaf, but on reflection, it does sound a bit like a political column in the Daily Telegraph.
Please consider reading it and subscribing to the Tonal Substack to learn more. Everyone will be affected by hearing loss at some point, directly or indirectly, and the consequences can be devastating. I hope I can, in some small way, help to de-stigmatise or demystify this common ailment.
Have a great week, all 🙏
